IN THE ROSE GARDEN - Shooting finished!

In his debut feature film, Leis Bagdach tells the story of rap star Yak (Kostja Ullmann), who is plagued by a crisis of meaning at the height of his career and then also receives an unexpected message: his almost forgotten father, who returned to his home country of Syria in a mad rush over 30 years ago, is lying in a coma in a German hospital - and has brought Yak a surprise: a 15-year-old half-sister called Latifa (Safinaz Sattar), who only speaks Arabic. Unwillingly reunited, the siblings embark on an odyssey across Germany.

The journey was filmed in just 30 days in Baden-Württemberg, Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia and central Germany - sometimes under difficult winter conditions. The cast includes well-known actors such as Ursula Werner, Petra Schmidt-Schaller, Verena Altenberger, Tom Lass and Husam Chadat. Nico Seyfrid from K.I.Z. not only composed 2 songs for the film, but also made his debut as an actor. Completion and release is planned for autumn 2024. We’ll keep you posted!
