Becoming Kim (AT) is our fourth collaboration with director Susanne Kim. In her new film, she takes a very personal, humorous and introspective look at her German-Korean marriage and family history. She writes: “Most culture clash comedies go like this: first chaos, then marriage. Then the film ends. But why do most stories end just when it gets interesting? And is love enough?” The film follows the Kim family over three years as they try to find their way to common ground. We are producing the project together with NDR/arte and the South Korean production company Seesaw Pictures. The project is funded on the German side by MDM, BKM, DFFF, SLM and the Kulturförderung des Freistaates Sachsen (cultural funding of the Free State of Saxony) as well as the Korean KOCCA and KFCIN Support. Filming will start in August this year. Completion is scheduled for 2025. We are very excited about the upcoming film.
